"Have you ever looked at the tree as a living thing, the way it looks like, the way the leaves rustle as if to say something and the strength it has to bear through nature's trials?"

The Tree

You stand upright, so dignified,
Your body, tall and sturdy,
Your many gnarled limbs reach up,
As if to touch the sky.

You wear a cloak of many shades,
Of many shades of green,
At night, your folds seem full of mystery,
So dark and eerie, so full of gloom.

When flowers bloom, you seem to glow,
Reveling in all your lights of glory,
When fall claims its right, you stand still proud,
Amidst a circle of natural beauty.

You stand unshaken by nature's tempers,
The floods, the gales, the scorching sun,
And despite it all, you rally on,
Like a pilgrim on a quest for knowledge.

At times, I hear you whispering,
When the gentle breezes blow,
Are you telling stories of love and heartbreak
Of those who seek the comfort of your strength?

At times, I hear you raspy voice
When the strong winds blow,
You rant and rave against the blast
And pray your grip is strong enough.

You shelter the creatures on earth
Without thought of what they are;
You're part of nature's legacy,
Can you remain thus so?
